The Silveyville Cemetery District is seeking a full time cemetery grounds maintenance worker with previous cemetery experience. The position requires a wide variety of duties including, but not limited to, preparing graves, maintaining cemetery grounds and assisting with burials. The majority of the employee’s day will be spent outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. The employee must be able to follow verbal and written instructions, have the initiative to think ahead, communicate clearly, pay attention to detail, work both individually and as part of a team, have a caring and professional demeanor, be trustworthy and of good moral character, be enthusiastic and dependable.
All activities related to performing burials.
Landscape maintenance such as sodding, seeding, mowing, trimming, planting, fertilizing, spraying pesticides and maintaining irrigation systems.
Ability to operate a variety of lawn care and landscape maintenance equipment such as riding mowers, push mowers, back pack blowers, trimmers, edgers, chain saw.
Ability to operate a backhoe and casket lowering device.
Some of the duties include:
Opening and closing graves.
Moving and re-setting markers/headstones.
Mowing grass. Trimming bushes. Some tree trimming. Weed control.
Maintenance of tools and equipment.
Must have a valid drivers license, clean driving record and be able to pass a drug test.
Must possess a current pesticide spray license or be willing to apply for and obtain such.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Previous cemetery maintenance experience is required.
